I don't have production photos of my changing table but there isn't much to show. It consists of three cabinets I found at a local scratch and dent store. The two end ones are 30" wide, and the middle one is 24" wide. So the 30" on the left, next to the 24" one, plus the 18" depth of the one on the right makes a perfect 72" (6 foot) long table (I'm a tall baby.) I cut a piece of thick plywood to size, then went to the fabric store and bought 2 1/2 yards of 6 foot wide vinyl, and 2 1/2 yards of 2" thick soft dense green foam. The foam only came in a size 24" wide so I took the last 1/2 yard and cut it into four 6" strips which when placed end to end made up the other 6" width I needed for the length of the table. I placed the vinyl face down on the floor, laid the foam on top, and the plywood on top of that. Then sat on the wood, and pulled the vinyl tight and stapled it to the back. The corners were really hard and I'm not totally satisfied with them, but they're ok. I screwed the cabinets together in the above configuration, and since there was a gap between the back of the cabinet and the wall, I cut a 54" piece of 2X4 and screwed it to the wall at cabinet height so the board could support the weight evenly. Then I just set the vinyl covered top in place, and I had a changing table! |
